Colby

September 20, 2010

I had the privilege of photographing this sweet doggie just this afternoon.  His name is Colby, a.k.a. Kobe! He’s been quite ill and has been on medication, so he really didn’t feel like playing much today.  He seemed quite pensive in fact.  So we took it easy and just sat together for the most part. Right, Colby?

“Do your ears hang low? Do they wobble to and fro?

Can you tie them in a knot?  Can you tie them in a bow?”

Hahaha!  I’ve been humming to the tune of that song all day.

Thank you Michelle for my mini session with Colby this afternoon.  And thank you Manang Justin (his nanny who loves him to pieces) for helping out.  Colby, you take it easy now okay?

My Mascot

Meet Edward, pale-yellow Labrador Retriever, runt of the litter, and love of our lives.

It’s his birthday today.  And to celebrate his first birthday, I thought it fitting to (finally) post my first entry on this blog.

Named after a vampire by my then-5-year-old son Franco, this quirky but smart and persistent dog goes by other nicknames too:  Jedi, Jed, Jedward, Schmedward, Larva, Mr. Cullen, Silly Dog, and Poopoo King.

His diet consists of dog food, nutritional treats, and, on occasion, Havaianas, wooden staircases, indoor plants, expensive shoes, plastic ware, and mop heads.  He prefers welcome mats and towels to durable dog toys.  His favorite game is tug-o-war. He can sit, stay, lie down, roll over, crawl, catch, shake hands, and give you a high-five on command.  He is well-behaved at the dinner table, and will sit properly on a chair next to us… drooling.  He’s a bit O.C. when he eats, clearing all crumbs and spills before eating what’s in his bowl.  He can smell the pizza delivery guy a mile away.  He’ll step on a cockroach if he sees one, but run and hide if it starts to fly.  Everyday he sits and waits for Franco to get home from school, meets him at the door, then checks his lunchbox for any left-overs.  Like most dogs, he is loyal and never leaves our side.

Below are some photos of Edward at 2 months old, taken on that memorable day last year when we welcomed him into our home, and into our hearts.

Franco prepares the dog house / playpen in time for Edward’s arrival.

Edward’s first portrait… showing off his famous single-paw pose.

Taking a rainy day nap in his cozy dog house.

Edward’s other favorite sleeping spot — on the cool marble floor and under a big armchair.  He slept there every day until he couldn’t fit anymore.
